Coastal Scents: Concealer brush

If you regularly check my Flickr! account, y'all may noticed the bunch of Coastal Scents brushes that I purchased 2 weeks ago. I bought 11 brushes (including the facial cleanser brush) and loved all of them!
I own MAC # 194 concealer brush for quite sometime now and have only used it for a few times. It does its job as far as spot touch ups but I feel like its not doing its job as far as undereye concealment. I use MAC Select Moisturecover and love it but I need a better brush than MAC's concealer brush. Sometimes I use MAC #190 foundation brush (yes THE foundation brush lol) or my ring finger. It does the jobs I wanted a concealer brush to do but its too big and heavy than the regular concealer brush should be. So anyway, when I ordered brushes from Coastal Scents, I have to purchase Pink Oval Synthetic Concealer Brush ($2.49) & Synthetic Concealer Shading Brush ($4.39). I have been using both brushes and I absolutely love it! It gives the coverage a concealer brush should. And of course nothing can beat that price.

Mario Badescu sample products

I received sample products from Mario Badescu two weeks ago and was so excited to try it. I answered a questionnaire from their website regarding my skin condition (oilyness, dryness, sensitivity or combination type) and I was sent a cleansing gel, aloe moisturizer, toner, eye cream, drying cream & drying mask. Frankly, I was not impressed at all. I had a breakout on my chin and I am sure it is because of the toner. I don't use toner, although I must admit that I did tried to use a toner in the past but it just doesn't do any good to my skin. I did stop using the toner and a few days later, my skin calmed down *whew*! I will definitely purchase the Hyaluronic eye cream and *maybe* the drying mask, once I finish the samples. I'll just stick to the Kiehl's moisturizer that I absolutely love!

MAC DressCamp

MAC She Gold lipglass

MAC Fashion lipglass

I didn't really plan to buy anything from the DressCamp collection but I ended up getting the 2 lipglass anyway, lol. I have yet to use the She Gold but I was able to wear the Fashion lipglass and love it! I know I have way too many pink lipstick but this one is very different. I used Fashion with Rocking Chick lipstick (from Barbie collection) and it both complemented each other. I will post a swatch of this two later when I get home.

NYX Eye Pencils

Eye pencils/liners are makeup products I don't normally splurge on. Okay, with the exception of 3 MAC eye kohl (grey, black & brown - which I think are necessary liner colors), the 4 dual pencils from the Heatherette collection and blacktrack & silver fluidliners. So anyway, last month when I checked out this cosmetics store in my 'hood, I bought a white and blue (which is called Sapphire) NYX eye pencils. If I remember it correctly it was $2.99 each. I love it. The color payoff is really good (for the Sapphire). I used it to line my lid and waterline. The color stays put on my lid but it gets washed out after 4 hours or so on my waterline. It is very vibrant and has a great color payoff, thought the downside is like I said, it is not waterproof. Personally, I really like it and planned to purchase other vibrant and cool colors. That being said, I immediately checked Cherry Culture and they are only $1.99. I was stoked, lol but most of the colors that I wanted a sold out. Of course I checked with my friend Google and searched for other online stores that sell NYX. Viola! I found Nonpareil Boutique and they have various NYX products as well. The website have 30 colors of NXY eye pencil. I was like - score! Hahaha.. And they are only $1.98 each. So of course I bought 10 different colors and 3 eye shadows. I can't wait lol. I will definitely write another post about this and swatches of the pencil liners. Stay tuned!

LVMH Buying Hublot

Luxury giant LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton said early Thursday that it reached an agreement to acquire Switzerland’s Hublot watch group from founder Carlo Crocco and a firm controlled by Jean-Claude Biver, who’s managed the brand since 2004.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but the company noted that the Hublot brand was “highly complementary” to its existing watch portfolio, which includes Tag Heuer, Zenith, Dior Montres and Louis Vuitton.

Last week, in disclosing its sales for the first quarter, LVMH reported that watches and jewelry, while still its smallest division in revenues, registered its largest sales gains. Organic revenues rose 19 percent to 211 million euros, or $316 million.

LVMH said that in 2007, Hublot had net revenue of more than 150 million Swiss francs, or $147.2 million at current exchange, backed by “strong profitability.” Distribution is limited to 300 stores worldwide, and price points exceed $250,000 for some of its more specialized pieces, such as elements of its Big Bang collection which use special metals and complex technical processes.

Philippe Pascal, chief executive officer of LVMH’s watches and jewelry unit, commented, “Hublot is a strategic and very complementary acquisition. Its high-end positioning, selective distribution, financial performance and growth potential make Hublot a ‘rising star.’ Hublot will strengthen our watches and jewelry business group which, over the last three years, has been growing strongly.”

He added that Biver and his management team would “continue on this remarkable journey and contribute his considerable expertise to our development in this promising sector.”

Wanted: Concealer

I think the "perfect" concealer is one of the hardest makeup product to find for someone. I've tried Clinique's but they don't have the shade that matches my skintone. I am currently using MAC Select Moisture Cover for about two or so months now & I do like it but I would like to try a creme or mineral powder concealers...

Any suggestions?

Camping Out for Kicks?

I haven't camped out over night for a pair of sneakers and I am not saying that I wouldn't because I did waited 8 hours in line for a pair lol. Yeah it may sound crazy to others, especially non-sneakerheads but it was well worth it. It wasn't an awesome experience needless to say but it was an experience. Yes I did woke up at 4 in the morning and was waiting in line at 5AM for the Puma No Mas First Round. I was #16th in line and of course got my pair in a size 6. And another reason that makes these pair special is that we both camped out for these, and he delt with my whinning and impatient ass, lol. Oh and since they are numbered shoe, I was lucky enough to get the #1 or 48. :)

Puma No Mas

Confessions of a Sneakerhead

I've been collecting sneakers for about 4 years, give or take. I've had compulsion buying issue for about couple of years but last year I did my own Spring Cleaning. I sold about 40 or so pairs and just kept those that I really like and with value to me.

This isn't much (so done with compulsive buying!) but I love all of them!

Oh, I have *more* boxes under my bed and a few kicks that doesn't have their boxes nomore so uhhh yeah, I think my collection is reaching its limit lol.

Update!

Ugh, I've been very busy (as usual) and like my previous post, my eyes have been bothering me so I stopped wearing contact lenses and for about over a week now I have my eyeglasses on. Since then, I've been wearing minimal eye makeups so no FOTD :(.

Anyway, enjoy the MAC collection updates and other brands. :)

Y'all have a great week!

Makeup tips from Kim Kardashian

Love Kim's smokey eyes look? Kim shares her makeup tips -

My makeup tips are here!

Okay, this is going to be a long post because I absolutely love makeup! And I mix so many different kinds.

Here we go...

Just so everyone knows, my make up artist Stephen Moleski has pretty much taught me everything I know.

Remember that everyone's color is different so please ask someone at the store where you purchase your makeup what works for you. Even if you think we have the same skin coloring, our tones can be different and I don't want anyone to waste money on concealer or foundation colors that aren't absolutely perfect!

STEP 1: I always start with a clean face. Then I put on Intuit 'Photo Shoot.' Intuit is a great company and I love the names of their products. Photo Shoot is a make up primer. I put it on after my moisturizer, which basically is like a moisturizer that will fill the pours on your face which will help set the foundation so it will last longer.

STEP 2: I use Cle De Peau concealer stick (it's super expensive, but works for me). It comes in two colors, I use Ocre, which is the darker of the two. I also use M.A.C. concealer (which comes in a little pot) if I run out of Cle de Peau. Everyone's color is different but I use NW25. I put the concealer under my eyes because I absolutely hate dark circles! I also use concealer to cover up blemishes!

STEP 3: After I put the concealer on I put on Make Up Forever liquid foundation. I mix one pump of No. 5 and two pumps of No. 4. I also have No. 3 for the winter time when I am really pale. I mix the foundations to get the perfect color. I blend them with the coolest make up brush. Its the M.A.C. brush No. 180.

STEP 4: Since I hate dark circles, after the foundation, I put on a little more concealer just under my eyes since the foundation makes it darker under my eyes. I use a lighter concealer from M.A.C. NW30 in a little lipstick tube-looking container and I select 'moisture cover.'

STEP 5: To set the foundation I lightly brush on with a big powder brush M.A.C. Select Sheer Pressed Powder NC 30, then to make me a little tanner I lightly brush on M.A.C. Powder NW 45.

STEP 6: Now its blush time! I'm obsessed with blush! I use a color called Gingerly to warm me up and give me a little color and then add a pink color called Cheek to give me rosey cheeks. I just started getting into cream blush and find it works a lot better and lasts a lost longer.

STEP 7: Time for the eyes! My favorite part! I first put down a M.A.C. Paint pot in a light color that matches my skin called Painterly. I just use my finder and put enough onto cover the lid. This creamy shadow makes it so that the powder eye shadow does not crease. Like, if you wear make up all day you will see that the eye shadow begins to crease and get oily, but if you put this paint color down first it won't! I love cream shadow and use the color cream pots too! I love colored shadow; so it depends on the color depend of shadow I plan to wear: If it's black smokey I use Carbon by M.A.C.; if its grey smokey I use Knight Divine or Print; if it's bown smokey I use Embark by M.A.C. I love a fresh shimmery look as well and use M.A.C. Pigment called Tan. Its so pretty! I love bright colors for eye make up! I absolutely love Make Up Forever and don't think anyone does pigment colors better than them. So again, depending on what color you feel like wearing, go look at Make Up Forever's colors to choose from.

STEP 8: I always use black pencil eyeliner. My favorite is Stilla black pencil.

STEP 9: Now its mascara time! Putting on mascara completes the look, but I have it when I mess up and get it on my eye lid and mess up the eye shadow. I used to use Lancome Hypnose, and still do, but I recently started to use M.A.C. Zoom mascara -- which is amazing! I take my time and put coat after coat. I love to layer mascaras so I will probably start with the M.A.C. Zoom and then put Lancome Hypnose on top. I always use a seperator brush to seperate my lashes. I am completely clueless on how to put false lashes on, so I only wear them for photo shoots sometimes.

STEP 10: The final touch is putting on lipstick! I usually use M.A.C. Lipliner called Stripdown (I use it very lightly) and a lipstick called Angel and put Nars Turkish Delight lipgloss on top. Or for my very nude matte lip I wear Nars Belle De Jour and I line my lips first with M.A.C. Subculture lipliner.

That completes the Kim Kardashian make up lesson!

By the way, the inspiration for this post came from the many makeup questions I've read in the comments areas of this site!... including this one...
'SEXY' said: Hey Kim... Just writing to let you I'm a huge fan of urs...... And I love ur makeup style, but please tell me the name of the shadows you buy from forever make up [at Sephora]?? ...PLEASE KIM in ur future makeup comments can u be more specific on brand and type Cause I love the makeup u wear!!!!! And what foundation do u wear and which lancome mascara ???

I hope this was helpful. Keep your comments and questions coming -- I love to read them!

XOXO,
Kim

P.S. Stay tuned because I'm planning to do a video blog of me actually putting my makeup on -- to show you all of my helpful tips in action.

Eye Candy: Mystery

I was fixing my hair this morning when I felt I couldn't come to work today. My eyes hurts so much! I already know that I need to see my eye doctor and that my eyes gets red and it is very strained. Yesterday I was telling my co-worker about it and she suggested that I request a flat screen computer monitor. I may have to take her advice and do all that tomorrow. So anyway I called in sick and told myself that I'm gonna rest my eyes today but its so hard not to go online and watch TV. And of course here I am catching up with music vids on BET Now and typing an entry :)
As RenRen requested, this is the look that I did inspired from Linda Mason's Eye Candy book. Its called "Mystery" and I altered it a lil bit.

I used a white eyeliner for my waterline to open up my eyes and I look so different, lol. I love heavy and bold dramatic look with black fluidliner up on my lid and waterline and not using any black liners at all for this look is very different. It is such a fresh look for me, I must say. And the inspiration of this look is on page 69.

BTW, this is also my first time to use Smooth Harmony beauty powder and it is perfect for my skin tone. It gave my face a lil bit of color, LOL. It looked so dark sitting pretty in the powder compact and I thought I'd only use it as a blush but no, I love the color it gave my skin and I am already contemplating on getting a back-up since this came exclusively for the MAC Heatherette collection. Anyway, these are the products I used for this look -

FACE:
Smashbox green foundation primer
MAC Select Moisturecover concealer
MUFE Mat Velvet +
MAC MSF medium plus
MAC Smooth Harmony beauty powder
MAC Fashion Frenzy beauty blush
MAC Fix +

EYES:
Urban Decay Primary Potion
MAC Passionate eye shadow (outer lid)
MAC Vanilla (inner lid)
MAC Ricepaper (brow highlights)
NYX White eye liner (waterline)
MAC Espresso (brow fill in)
Diorshow Mascara
LIPS:
Kiehl's lip balm #1
MAC Sweetie lipstick
MAC Pink Lemonade lipglass

Eye Candy Looks

Per requested, I took a few pictures from Linda Mason's Eye Candy book. I can't wait to try all of her created looks, they look so simple yet very elegant.

Eye Candy

I've been so busy lately with work (tax season!) and personal stuff hence I couldn't update this blog as much as I can. (I really do!)

This is going to be a real short post but I just wanna share to everybody that the Eye Candy book by Linda Mason arrived yesterday (I pre-ordered last week) and let me say that it is money well spent. There are 55 eye make up looks from everyday to glamorous to flirty looks. The book is extremely helpful, from shaping your brows, making your eyes look elongated, round, applying false eye lashes and more. I used once of its looks this morning for the everyday look and it is great and very easy. Her tips are amazing and very useful.
Okay, I'm out ladies and gents. Y'all have a great week!
